Job Description Title : Welding Engineer
Location : Lemont , IL
Hire Type : Direct Hire
Salary : $80k-$135k/yr. (based on experience)
Bonus : 8% that is paid out quarterly

Sterling Engineering is looking for a Welding Engineer near Lemont, IL with a leading manufacturer of electrical power grid solutions. This opportunity is a great opportunity to work with a stable and recession proof company.
Job Duties :
- Create detailed welding process standards and work instructions
- Train production staff on welding techniques and procedures
- Analyze and enhance welding processes for efficiency and cost reduction
- Develop and implement KPIs to track and improve welding performance
- Design, develop, and implement custom welding fixtures and jigs
- Ensure fixture designs align with operational requirements
- Maintain quality control processes, ensuring compliance with AWS, ISO, and other standards
- Investigate welding defects and implement corrective actions
- Prepare and review inspection reports and weld procedure specifications (WPS)
- Maintain accurate records of welding processes and improvements
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- Experience as a Welding Engineer in a manufacturing or industrial setting
- Strong knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIG, SMAW, FCAW) and materials (metals, alloys)
- Proficiency in CAD software for fixture design
- Familiarity with AWS, ASME, and ISO welding standards
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Welding Engineer certification (prefered)
- Experience with automation and robotic welding systems
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
