L&M Distribution and Logistics is a growing third-party logistics provider specializing in beverage, wine & spirits, and consumer goods transportation throughout the tri-state area. We’re seeking an experienced Transportation & Dispatch Manager to lead our fleet operations and ensure efficient, compliant, and customer-focused delivery performance.
Position OverviewThe Transportation & Dispatch Manager oversees day-to-day operations for our mixed fleet of CDL-A tractors, cargo vans, and 26-foot box trucks. This hands-on role involves building efficient routes, managing and supporting drivers, monitoring performance, and ensuring DOT compliance and operational cost control. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and brings a balance of leadership, communication, and logistical expertise.
Key ResponsibilitiesFleet & Dispatch Operations
Build and manage daily driver schedules across CDL-A, cargo van, and box truck operations.
Monitor routes and make real-time adjustments to ensure on-time delivery and pickup performance.
Serve as the primary point of contact for all driver communication and issue resolution.
Utilize dispatch/TMS software, GPS tracking, and reporting tools to manage fleet activity.
Coordinate delivery and pickup appointments with customers and facilities throughout the tri-state region.
Driver Supervision & Support
Provide leadership, coaching, and accountability for assigned drivers.
Monitor attendance, performance, and adherence to company standards.
Address and resolve driver issues promptly, escalating when appropriate.
Participate in driver recruitment, onboarding, and retention initiatives.
Financial & Operational Performance
Track and manage key cost drivers including fuel, overtime, routing efficiency, and maintenance impact.
Partner with leadership to identify savings opportunities while maintaining service quality.
Required
Minimum 2 years of recent dispatch, fleet, or driver management experience in transportation/logistics.
Proven experience supervising drivers in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with dispatch/TMS software, GPS tracking, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace.
Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to problem-solve under pressure.
Demonstrated ability to balance safety, service, and cost performance.
Preferred
Experience managing mixed fleets (CDL-A, cargo vans, box trucks).
Knowledge of Philadelphia and surrounding delivery areas.
Familiarity with Samsara or similar fleet management systems.
Exposure to P&L, cost tracking, or operational budgeting.
Based in a dispatch office and warehouse setting with frequent driver interaction.
Hours: 6am to 4pm
Salary range of $75,000 to $85,000 based on experience
