Sterile Processing Technician

No prior experience required — training and certification provided after hire.

Compensation

• Entry-Level: $20.30/hour
  • $1/hour increase after 6 months
  • Additional $2/hour increase upon certification
• Experienced Candidates: Starting at $22/hour or higher, based on qualifications
• More shift options available to certified candidates. Morning weekend shift available with a $5.30 shift differential.

Location: Downtown Charleston, SC

Entry-level Shifts Currently Available:

• 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM, Monday–Friday (includes every other weekend shift)
• 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM, Monday–Friday (includes every other weekend shift)

Position Overview

Join a vital healthcare team responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and readiness of surgical instruments and medical equipment. This entry-level role offers hands-on training, certification opportunities, and a clear path for advancement in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect, clean, assemble, and sterilize medical instruments and equipment immediately following surgical procedures
• Prepare, store, and restock sterile supplies according to established protocols
• Operate sterilization equipment to ensure proper decontamination and readiness
• Accurately document all sterilization and cleaning activities
• Support operating room and procedural staff with supply and equipment setup
• Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Adhere to all safety protocols and report equipment or process issues promptly
• Participate in ongoing training and educational sessions

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills
• Willingness to work in a physically demanding and fast-paced environment
• Team-oriented mindset with adaptability to changing priorities

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in sterile processing or a related healthcare field
• Familiarity with standard sterilization procedures and equipment
• Certification in sterile processing (if already obtained)
• Experience working in hospital or surgical settings

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
