POSITION SUMMARY

The Clinical Informatics/Medication Support Analyst, Paragon Center of Excellence (COE), serves as a key liaison between clinical practice and health information technology, with a specialized focus on medication management and clinical documentation workflows . This role is uniquely designed for professionals who hold both Registered Nurse (RN) licensure and Pharmacy Technician certification , enabling them to support the implementation, optimization, and adoption of Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and medication-related technologies across Lifepoint Health facilities.

The Analyst collaborates closely with the Paragon COE team, Health Support Center (HSC) departments, and facility-based clinical and pharmacy leaders to ensure that informatics solutions align with best practices, regulatory requirements, and patient safety goals. This position plays a vital role in high-impact initiatives such as Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE), Barcoded Medication Administration (BCMA), medication standardization, and electronic prescribing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborate with the Director of Paragon COE and cross-functional teams to provide subject matter expertise in both nursing and pharmacy domains for successful implementation and optimization of clinical informatics systems.
  • Lead and support change management initiatives related to clinical informatics and medication management technologies, ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the design, configuration, and deployment of EHR and pharmacy system settings to support safe and efficient medication use processes.
  • Provide training and support to hospital staff, including nurses, pharmacists, and providers, on clinical documentation, medication workflows, and informatics tools.
  • Monitor system setup and performance to ensure compliance with operational, clinical, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Define and support content development, system build, and training materials for clinical documentation, medication management, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Promote evidence-based practices and standardization across facilities to enhance patient safety and clinical outcomes.
  • Serve as a liaison between facility pharmacy teams, clinical staff, vendors, and HSC departments to ensure effective use of clinical information systems.
  • Develop and deliver orientation and education programs for clinical and pharmacy staff related to informatics and technology changes.
  • Identify, document, and prioritize system enhancement requests and process improvement opportunities.
  • Provide hands-on support during all phases of key initiatives including CPOE, BCMA, medication standardization, and physician documentation.
  • Engage with hospitals during readiness assessments and go-live support for informatics and medication-related implementations.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) required; BSN or MSN in Clinical Informatics preferred.
  • Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) required.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of combined experience in nursing and pharmacy practice, with at least 2 years in clinical informatics, EHR implementation, or medication management systems.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Moderate computer skills - frequent use of electronic mail, word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, and graphics.
  • Ability to create and maintain documents, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations to support business objectives.
  • Strong communication skills - able to train others, interact with cross-functional teams, and present to department or middle management.
  • Ability to solve routine business problems and follow established procedures.
  • Moderate independent judgment - sets personal goals and determines how to achieve results with broad guidance.
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously with moderate complexity.
  • Experience with project implementations and upgrades involving clinical areas, vendors, interfaces, troubleshooting, and support.
  • Deep understanding of clinical workflows and medication use processes in hospital settings.
  • Ability to translate clinical and pharmacy needs into effective informatics solutions.

  • In hospital environments, may be exposed to hazards such as bloodborne pathogens, contagious illnesses, toxic chemicals, and biohazardous materials requiring safety precautions and protective equipment.
  • Noise level typical for office and hospital settings.
  • Minimum overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.
