JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for overall performance of manufacturing and manufacturing engineering operations, including but not limited to the following functions: Production; Materials; Facilities / Maintenance; Plant Safety; Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance; Manufacturing Engineering; and Process Engineering.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Focuses for short-term goals evaluation of plant's capital needs, immediate performance improvement in on-time delivery, quality, cost productivity, performance to plan, and capacity utilization
2. Assist identification and implementation of safety and environmental improvement projects
3. Track and provide recommendations to ensure that production output meets or exceeds plan
4. Provide material balance forecasting and assistance with cost forecasting
5. Provide root cause analysis leadership and involvement in work management process
6. Identify, request and apply capital funds for improvement and sustaining projects
7. Manage contract operations activities and spending for cost effectiveness
8. Recommend waste reduction methods and formula changes to reduce process waste
9. Participate in crew meetings on a monthly basis to improve safety and environmental awareness
10. Direct and supervise the day-to-day production personnel activity to support production schedules
11. Plans and manages production schedules to best meet production capacity and meet customer demand.
12. Ensures the production of quality products in an efficient, timely, and safe manner
13. Participate in the development of new production processes, developing strategies for dealing with increased or decreased production demands
14. Responsible for electrical and mechanical servicing and efficient maintenance of production machinery and equipment, physical plant, utilities, and grounds in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policies and procedures
15. Responsible for the management of departmental personnel including; evaluating and recommending personnel requirements, hiring, development and performance management
16. Ensures compliance with safety initiatives, OSHA, EPA and other regulatory requirements
17. Assist in preparation of capital budget recommending equipment & process improvements to improve plant productivity, safety, and quality

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITITES:

1. Effective interaction with management, the business community, customers, vendors and fellow employees
2. Projects as assigned by the executive management and General Manager

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Strong leadership and organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities
2. Excellent communication skills with a team-building attitude
3. Excellent mechanical aptitude with trouble shooting abilities

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, business management or related field - Preferred
2. Minimum 5 years production experience in plant/production management
3. Prior experience in Process Engineering, P& L management, Plant Safety, Quality Assurance,
4. Experience with pulp mill process and machinery preferred

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:

• APICS, CPIM or other manufacturing certification a plus
