SKELETONS: The Museum of Osteology, provides quality educational opportunities and allows school groups and the public to explore the form and function of the skeletal system.

Our museum is currently displaying over 450 skeletons from all corners of the world, visitors have a unique opportunity to compare and contrast many rare species normally not seen in museum exhibits.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

The Marketing and Events Coordinator position focuses on increasing general admission attendance and enhancing the Museum of Osteology’s visibility in the community. This position focuses on creating and implementing specialized marketing campaigns, promoting special events and birthday parties, managing email communications, and driving museum membership growth. The position involves the collective coordination of all event information and resources, including working collaboratively with other departmental staff. This position requires a dedication to being detail-oriented and a high level of customer service.

Essential Functions

Marketing

  • Plan and execute targeted marketing campaigns to increase general admission attendance.

  • Promote special events, birthday parties, and museum memberships through email blasts, social media, and other channels.

  • Working with the Digital Marketing Manager and Graphic Designer to develop creative promotional materials and ensure consistency in messaging and visual identity across all platforms.

  • Manage and maintain the museum’s email marketing lists, creating engaging content and scheduling regular communications.

  • Track and analyze campaign performance and attendance data to optimize future marketing efforts.

  • Support membership sales initiatives and work to increase member engagement and retention.

  • Represent the museum at off-site community events to promote awareness and collect visitor contact information to support audience engagement and marketing efforts.

  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners and local media.

Events

  • Collaborate with museum staff to plan, coordinate, and promote events that attract diverse audiences.

  • Assist with event logistics, provide support during events including setup, guest relations, and post-event follow-up.

Memberships

  • Oversee museum membership program, including recruitment, management, and retention strategies to grow and maintain member engagement.

Experience

  • 3+ years as a marketing professional

  • Experience with Shopify or similar

  • Ability to examine user behavior and engagement and other metrics on websites, social media, and digital ads to provide guidance and recommendations.

  • Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position that regularly requires weekend work, as well as some evenings. Outside of scheduled events, position duties will be at the museum typically Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm.
