Position Overview

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Transportation to lead our transportation operations. This role will oversee a team of dispatchers responsible for building delivery routes across 23 locations in the United States & Canada using a soon-to-be-selected Transportation Management System (TMS). The Director will play a critical role in optimizing fleet usage, reducing the number of trucks and drivers, and ensuring timely and efficient deliveries. Some travel may be required.

Dress code- Business casual/Jeans/Polo/ NO GRAPHIC t-shirts.

Hours- Generally Monday through Friday with flexibility for occasional holiday or weekend supervision. Schedule may vary based on operation & specific needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a centralized team of dispatchers across all delivery locations.
• Oversee the implementation and adoption of a new TMS platform.
• Design and optimize delivery routes to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.
• Develop and enforce standardized routing and dispatching procedures across locations.
• Monitor delivery performance metrics and ensure targets for on-time delivery, quality and cost are met.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including warehouse, customer service, and sales to align transportation strategies with business goals.
• Identify opportunities to consolidate shipments and reduce fleet size without compromising service levels.
• Train and mentor dispatchers to ensure consistent skill levels and performance.
• Analyze transportation data to drive continuous improvement and cost savings.
• Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations and safety standards.
• Build relationships and negotiate with 3rd party freight carriers and brokers.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in transportation management, logistics, or supply chain operations.
• Strong leadership skills with experience building and managing high-performance remote teams.
• Familiarity with TMS platforms and route optimization tools.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, change-driven environment.

Preferred Experience

• Background in private fleet management and driver scheduling.
• Experience in centralizing transportation functions across multiple locations.
• Knowledge of cost-reduction strategies in logistics operations.
• 10+ years transportation/logistics experience with 5+ years in leadership role
