Job Summary

Reporting to the Vice President, Government and Community Relations, the Director will take a leadership role in securing support for 92NY's programmatic and capital needs from government agencies and UJA-Federation of New York. The Director will also be responsible for grant reporting, fulfilling other grant deliverables, and liaising with the Development Department regarding government and UJA grants.

Job Responsibilities Include

    Collaborate with the Vice President, Government and Community Relations; Director, Government and Community Relations, and members of 92NY's Executive Leadership Team and Senior Leadership Team to plan and execute strategic fundraising efforts related to government sources and UJA Federation of New York for 92NY's programs in arts, culture, education, civic engagement, Jewish life, and health and wellness.
  • Responsible, with the VP and Director, Government and Community Relations, for 92NY's relationship with government relations consultants, ensuring that their expertise is maximized for 92NY to maintain and increase government funding, and to identify new government funding opportunities.
  • Liaise with Elected Officials' offices and keep current on NYC and NY State Electeds who are relevant to 92NY-who they are and what their priorities are.
  • Draft government and UJA grant applications for programs in 92NY's programmatic centers.
  • Develop and prepare budgets and supporting materials for proposals and applications.
  • Work with program colleagues to ensure fulfillment of grant deliverables including outputs, outcomes, and success indicators. Prepare and submit timely interim narrative and financial reports, final reports, and other necessary requirements to funders.
  • Cultivate and manage key relationships with government agency contacts and UJA-Federation program staff.
  • Analyze grants received, pending, and anticipated against fundraising goals.
  • Ensure proper stewardship and acknowledgment of government funders.
  • Work closely with program staff to become thoroughly familiar with a wide array of programs and communicate them in a compelling manner to funders-both verbally and in writing.
  • Represent 92NY and its programs in meetings, site visits, and phone conversations with elected officials and program contacts at government agencies and UJA.
  • Serve as a liaison to the Development Department, including staying up to date, e.g., on fundraising priorities, programmatic developments, and cultivation opportunities.
  • May be assigned other tasks and duties reasonably related to job responsibilities.
Experience, Education, & Skills Desired
  • Bachelor's degree, with Master's Degree preferred.
  • Between five to ten years previous experience in grants writing, including government applications.
  • Extensive knowledge of government funding opportunities, application processes, and government funding contracts.
  • Proven track record in securing operating and capital support from government sources.
  • Excellent writing, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet grant and reporting deadlines.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data with the facility to understand complex budgeting models.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office and Excel; knowledge of Tessitura preferred.

Work Environment & Requirements

40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility in schedule needed to meet deadlines.

Compensation Range

$85,000 - $95,000

The actual compensation offered will be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, and certifications or other professional licenses held.
